رسالة بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للسلام

منذ عام 2002 والعالم يحتفل سنوياً باليوم العالمي للسلام في الحادي والعشرين من أيلول. وقد جاء هذا الاحتفال بعد سنوات من إطلاق الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة اليوم العالمي للسلام للمرة الأولى عام 1981. غير أن ظواهر عدم المساواة الاقتصادية والظلم الاجتماعي والنزاع الثقافي استمرت في السيطرة على العالم؛ معمّقةً بذلك الفجوة بين الغني والفقير وبين الشمال والجنوب.

في الآنِ نفسه، تعالت الأصوات المنادية بتحقيق الاستدامة والأمن الإنساني وبناء السلام. ودأبت قطاعات واسعة على العمل من أجل هذه الغايات لبناء عالم أفضل. وقد ساهمت هذه الأصوات المخلصة في تعزيز الوعي العام بالقضايا الملحّة التي تؤثّر على كل فردٍ منّا. كما كرّست فهماً جديداً لقوّة الأفراد في التعامل مع الأسباب المؤدية إلى الفقر والعنف والإضرار بالبيئة.

تشجّع الأصوات المنادية بالسلام الناس، بقطاعاتهم المختلفة، على المشاركة في تحقيق التحوّل السلمي، وبناء جسور مادية وروحية من أجل التعاون بين الشعوب والثقافات في أنحاء العالم كافة. ولن تبقى هذه الأصوات طويلاً بمنأى عن أسماع سياسيي العالم، والمؤسسات وأجهزة الإعلام. وسرعان ما ستحفّز الأفراد على إدراك أنهم جزء من مجتمع عالمي متكافل، مكرّسٍ للعدالة والإرادة الطيبة والكرامة الإنسانية.

آمل أن تحظى شعوب العالم بلحظة آمنة خالية من أصوات الرصاص وأعمال العنف، تنعم فيها بالمصالحة والتأمل. فهذا اليوم يذكّرنا بضرورة تعظيم الجوامع واحترام الفروق والعمل الجمعي من أجل بناء ثقافة دولية للسلام.

International Day of Peace

A Message from HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal *

Since the United Nations General Assembly created the first Peace Day in 1981 and established its annual date on September 21, 2002, the world has continued to witness its share of economic inequality, social injustice and cultural conflict.

Meanwhile, a significant portion of humanity has become involved in activities to build a better world and the voices for sustainability, human security and peace are growing louder. They are raising popular awareness on issues that affect each one of us. They are cultivating a new understanding about the power of every individual to address the causes of poverty, violence and damage to the environment.

The voices for peace are encouraging substantial numbers of the public to engage in personal and political actions for peaceful transformation. These voices are growing ever stronger, building physical and spiritual bridges of collaboration among people and cultures across the world. Soon these voices will be heard by the world's politicians, corporations and media, and the masses will begin to realize themselves as part of an interdependent global community, dedicated to justice, goodwill and human dignity.

Today I wish the people of the world a safe moment of ceasefire and non-violence, a cherished interlude of reconciliation and reflection. May this day serve to remind us that our enduring vision, above all of our differences, is to work together everyday to create an international culture of peace.
