within the framework of projects implemented by the Royal Institute in collaboration with partners in Jordan, the Royal Institute implemented the project ‘Pioneering Interfaith Dialogue in a Multicultural Society’, which targets Thai students studying in Jordan, in collaboration with the Thai Embassy in Amman and the Thai Students’ Association in Jordan.
The Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies welcomed Her Excellency Mrs Jirapon Jirampaikool, Thailand’s Ambassador in Jordan, accompanied by 54 Thai students from various Jordanian universities and institutes. They were welcomed by Dr. Tagreed Odeh, The Institute’s Director.
A series of interactive discussions and field visit to religious institutions and heritage sites in Amman and Ajloun, were organised from 7 to 8 May 2026.
The activities began with a visit to the Jordanian Aliftaa Department, where the students were provided a detailed overview of the Department’s role in Jordanian society. This was followed by an interactive lecture which explored Jordan’s history and its shared cultural heritage as a society that promotes cultural pluralism.
The seminar began with opening remarks by Her Excellency Ambassador Jirabon Jirambaykul and Dr. Tagreed Odeh. Then, moderated by Dr. Zeidan Kafafi, former President of Yarmouk University, Archimandrite Dr. Bassam Shihatit, and Dr. Amer Al-Hafi, the Institute’s Academic Adviser.
The programme concluded with a field trip to historical, religious and cultural sites in Ajloun, which sought to deepen participants’ understanding and enhance their insights into Jordanian best practices in the areas of multiculturalism, cultural diversity and coexistence.
