The Royal Institute participates in a symposium at the University of Balamand entitled: ‘Christians, Muslims and Contemporary Issues’

Dr. Ismael Ghananim, senior researcher at the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, participated in a scientific symposium organized by the Centre for Christian-Muslim Studies at the University of Balamand entitled “Christians, Muslims, and Contemporary Issues,” which was held from January 22 to 24, 2026, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of “Nostra Aetate.”
Dr. Ismael Ghananim presented a research paper entitled “Amman and Coexistence in Jordanian Novels: Place, Memory, and Urban Experience,” in which it portrayed the city as a space for cultural and religious diversity and coexistence. He also moderated a panel discussion on the historical and contemporary dynamics of Christian-Muslim relations, the literature of religious dialogue in the early centuries of Islam, and the relationships between religious communities in the Levant and Lebanon based on historical documents and waqf records.
This academic initiative takes place within the framework of cooperation between the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies and the University of Balamand, reflecting their shared commitment to interfaith dialogue and the promotion of coexistence across the Levant.
