The Amman Baccalaureate School’s 3rd Interfaith Conference took place this year under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The conference, which was hybrid, engaged local and international students in fruitful face to face and virtual discussions.Students from ten local IB and non IB schools and four international schools from India, Pakistan and Lebanon engaged in deep thought related to this year’s conference theme which was “The role of Religions in shaping a culture of diversity.” Experts provided by the conference partner, The Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, led the first session, leaving the students to lead the remaining two sessions through a variety of activities that enabled the participants to reflect critically on the role of Religion in shaping a cultural identity and its contribution to cultural change. In addition the students reflected on the relationship between ritual practice and spirituality and co-existence and respect. In a time of increasing conflict, faith can teach us a lot about bringing people together.
