HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, President of the Arab Thought Forum, sponsored at the Jordan Museum the launch of Dr. Zeidan Kafafi’s book “The Story of the Land of Jordan between Prehistoric to the Persian Era”, as part of a ceremony organized by the American Research Center in cooperation with the Hassan Scientific City and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in the presence of HRH Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
His Highness praised the presentation of the book, its timing and its historical geopolitical, geographical and geophysical content, as it comes at a time when the programs of cultural heritage and historical heritage are being ignored as consuming material.
“It is important to talk about the three geological areas in Jordan, which are the great African fault that passes through the Jordan Valley, the mountain ranges, and the Jordanian desert, because of the geographical importance that leads to a cultural approach and a deeper understanding of Jordan and the Levant in terms of historical geopolitics,” he said.
In the context of the need to link between the historical narrative and the analysis of current issues, His Highness stressed that the main focus of the conflict between the Levant and Morocco was built on the trade corridors between ancient civilizations, which depended on the flow of goods, science and knowledge from the Levant to Morocco and not the other way around.
He added that those who follow the history of the Eastern Mediterranean and the region understand that everything that is happening in the past and the present revolves around energy, pointing out that “Gaza Hashem” was considered Nabatean, and the images of the Lebanese were considered Phoenician, in reference to the ancient commercial lines and cooperation within the ancient civilizations in the Levant.
His Highness pointed out the importance of enhancing the role of young people in tracking and analyzing current events and issues in time and place within joint cooperatives to analyze and understand the historical cultural heritage within the present data, in order to enhance interrelated development efforts in terms of various economic and environmental sectors, and interdependent in terms of humanitarian disciplines.
For his part, Kafafi expressed his thanks to His Highness Prince Hassan for his continued support for the revival of the Jordanian and Levant cultural heritage, and its understanding and analysis in a modern realistic way.
He said that the book refers to the great historical importance of Jordan among the civilizations of the Levant, considering the geographical location and the geopolitical status occupied by Jordan throughout the eras since prehistoric history.
The ceremony was attended by a number of current and former officials and advisers and representatives of various ministries and local and international governmental and non-governmental institutions.
