Through the New Horizons project, the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies, in partnership with Mennonite Central Committee aimed at enhancing mutual respect across religion identities and providing a friendly and safe space for youth activists and religious leaders to discuss and share different opinions.
Project Objectives:
- Enhancing mutual respect across religio-cultural identities in three different areas: Ajloun, Zarqa and Madaba.
- Reducing youth vulnerability to radicalization and adopting thoughts of violent radical groups.
- Contributing to preventing discrimination, intolerance and violence on grounds of religion or belief, by raising awareness, providing guidance, and promoting values such as respect, tolerance, acceptance that all in total achieve meanings of social cohesion, coexistence and peace.
- Providing a friendly and safe space for youth activists and religious leaders to discuss and share of different opinions that shall bring them together.
- Reminding youth that they come from a diverse culture over thousands of years where differences were not a root cause of conflicts.
Project Activities:
- Mapping of stakeholders across the project’s targeted areas.
- Developing a training manual on the topics of tolerance, peacebuilding, dialogue and the impact of speech on religious leaders.
- Conducting training workshops in the project’s targeted areas on notions related to peace, tolerance and critical thinking.
- Conducting a training workshops in Ajloun Baptist Conference Centre to allow participants to have a spiritual retreat, foster their human communication and affinity and provide them with skills and tools to develop community initiative in their areas.
- Implementing community initiatives to promote tolerance, peace and partnership with the other.
